The second night of the two-night WrestleMania 37 event has concluded, with “The Tribal Chief” retaining his prized possession, the WWE Universal Championship.
WRESTLEMANIA 37’S NIGHT TWO SAW A NUMBER OF TITLE CHANGES
WrestleMania 37 was originally scheduled to take place on March 28, 2021 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California; however, the COVID-19 pandemic in California made it unlikely that the event could be held there with in-person spectators. The event was then moved to its present location and lengthened to two nights.
Night 2 of the event opened with Ashland Craft performing “America The Beautiful”. Hulk Hogan and Titus O’Neil, the hosts of the event, went all out to embrace the theme of the event, wearing pirate costumes as they attempted to hype the sellout croud.
Randy Orton faced “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt in the opening match. In the end, Alexa Bliss supposedly transformed into a Sister Abigail-like figure, distracting “The Fiend” enough to let Randy Orton hit the RKO for the victory.
Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler looked to defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against the team of Natalya and Tamina. Natalya did not notice Baszler getting a tag in, and put the wrong person (Jax) in the Sharpshooter. Baszler managed to put the situation to her advantage, locking Natalya in the Kirafuda Clutch for the submission victory.
The third match saw Kevin Owens face long-time frenemy Sami Zayn. Zayn had his guest of honour, Logan Laul, present at ringside. In the end, Owens managed to counter a Helluva Kick and hit a superkick and stunner for the victory. In the end, Paul attacked Zayn and held Owens’ hand high. However, Owens stunned Paul as well.
In the fourth match, The United States Champion Riddle faced Sheamus. In what was a highly physical match, Sheamus managed to bust Riddle’s mouth open with a Brogue Kick, pinning him for the three-count and winning the Championship in the process.
Big-E defended his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Apollo Crews in a Nigerian Drum match, basically a street fight. The match ended when the former Dabba-Kato helped Crews for the Championship victory.
Asuka defended her Raw Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley, whose entrance song was performed live. In the end, Ripley managed to escape from the Asuka Lock and connect with a Riptide for the victory. This marked Ripley’s first main-roster Championship victory.
The hosts came out again, but were interrupted by Bayley, who claimed to be a co-host. The Bella Twins then attacked Bayley and sent her rolling down the ramp.
In the main event, Roman Reigns faced Royal Rumble winner Edge and Daniel Bryan in a triple threat match for the WWE Universal Championship. In what was seen as one of the best WrestleMania main events in recent times, Roman Reigns took advantage of a Jey Uso interference to pin both of his opponents at the same time for the victory.
