The Boston Celtics secured a resounding victory over the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, March 3rd, by a score of 140-88. Jaylen Brown took full advantage of the Warriors’ weak defense and scored 19 of his game and 29 points in the first quarter. They completely took over the game, leading by as many as 56 points at one point which led to Golden State’s eight-game road winning streak.
However, Jaylen Brown is more than capable of making a wide-open jump shot. In only the first quarter, he torrefies the Warriors for 19 points and five threes. Additionally, the plucky plan enraged Brown more than usual.
The Golden State Warriors planned early on to ease up their defensive pressure on Jaylen Brown near the perimeter at TD Garden, with hopes of preventing the Boston Celtics from getting much going. Celtics coach Joe Mazzula couldn’t help but smile when the Warriors showed early that they were willing to let Brown leave. Although it wasn’t the main objective initially, getting Brown going was undoubtedly helpful.
Jaylen Brown comments on the win
Jaylen Brown was questioned about the “mind games” that Golden State was playing when they dared him to shoot at his post-game press conference. After that Brown stated, “First time it’s ever happened to me. Honestly, I was a bit surprised. Took a little bit of adjusting. … But if you want to dare me to shoot, we can do that too. I thought it was a little disrespectful. But we took advantage of it, and we didn’t look back.”

During his first 54 games of the season, the three-time All-Star has attempted 5.6 three-pointers, compared to just one of his previous five years. However, Brown’s career three-point percentage is a respectable 36.3%. Maybe when the Warriors came up with their innovative defensive strategy, they messed up Brown’s playing stats.
