Former NBA superstar Vince Carter was announced as a finalist for the 2024 Basketball Hall of Fame class. Carter was recently asked on the NBA show “Run It Back” which NBA team’s jersey he would hypothetically don at the 2024 Hall of Fame. It seemed like Carter was ready with his answer and spoke without any hesitation.
“Toronto, Toronto, Toronto. It has to be, it’s where it all started”.
Vince Carter went on to add:
“Yes, I had great years in Jersey, but it started there. My confidence and understanding the player I could be in the league was trending upwards still in Toronto.”

Unfortunately, Carter will not get the chance to wear the Toronto Raptors jersey at the Hall of Fame, because, unlike the Baseball Hall of Fame, players will not have the liberty to choose a team to represent at the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Vince Carter will remain a Raptor player forever
Toronto Raptors holds a very special place in Vince Carter’s heart, the 47-year-old talked about how important the years at Raptors were for Carter and how it shaped his career. Carter earned five All-Star appearances in his first six seasons at the Toronto Raptors, he even bagged the 1998-99 Rookie of the Year award while playing for the Raptors.
Sadly the fairytale for Carter ar the Raptors did not end the way it started. Many fans claim that Carter somewhat forced his way out of the Toronto Raptors resulting in a trade in the 2004-05 season to the New Jersey Nets, when he was still playing at the peak of his career.
Fans on the internet had mixed reactions regarding Vince Carter’s comments on the Toronto Raptors Jersey:
“He’s a man who regrets how he left Toronto and is trying to make amends. I respect it” one fan wrote on X(previously Twitter)
“No Management Told Him & His Cousin Tracy M To Leave They Were Rebuildin Like They Are Doin Now” another fan replied.
“Raps fans on social media are too young to remember there was a time when Raps could’ve been relocated to another city like Grizzlies but VC changed this narrative and was the reason the NBA grew in Toronto” a Twitter user commented.
