The rising San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama recently secured the game ball from Wednesday night’s Spurs win over the Detroit Pistons. Wembanyama tallied his first triple-double and became the fifth-youngest player in NBA history to do it.
Victor Wembanyama has become a promising talent
Wembanyama steered the Spurs to a huge 130-108 victory against the Pistons. He returned with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in just 21 minutes. It also made him the youngest center in NBA history to record a triple-double.

During the second half, Victor Wembanyama came up with a spectacular pass. The 2023 first-overall pick threw a pass between Bojan Bogdanovic’s legs, and Julian Champagnie finished a layup at the rim. He also had another impressive assist during the first quarter.
He caught a rebound and threw a full-court pass to Jeremy Sochan, who finished off the play with a layup.
The matches seemed to have a decisive result in the first quarter itself as the Spurs took a double-digit lead heading into the second period. A total of eight Spurs players scored in double figures, with Keldon Johnson scoring a team-high 17 points off the bench.
Victor Wembanyama is a Rookie of the Year contender
Victor Wembanyama had been a leading candidate to win the Rookie of the Year heading into 2023-24 NBA season. Wembanyama has met the expectations of the fans with his remarkable performances. However, the San Antonio Spurs’ record could hamper the voting.
Wembanyama will have a chance to win the 2024 NBA Rookie of The Year Award. He is averaging 19.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 3.3 blocks per contest while shooting 44.9% from the field and 29.5% from the three-point range in 31 games.
The Spurs recently got off to a sluggish start to the 2023-24 NBA season, as they are the 15th seed in the Western Conference with a 5-30 record in their first 35 games. They are also in the middle of a five-game losing streak and are 1-9 over their last ten games.
