On Wednesday it was announced by Netflix that a series of documentaries about the post fighting life of longtime heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury is in the works.
At Home With The Furys: Netflix docuseries to follow Tyson Fury and his family
Filming started after Fury announced in the month of April that he would not fight as a professional again, which happened moments after his knockout of fellow Briton Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium.
The ‘At Home With The Furys’ series would follow the family of the boxer which will involve his wife Paris, their six children and his father, John as ‘The Gypsy King’ tries to stay busy away from the ring.
“Alongside changing nappies and the school run, the doc series will see Tyson constantly looking for projects to keep him busy, from a world tour to meet his fans, to lavish family holidays, encounters with other A-listers and impromptu family camping trips,” said Deadline.
Although there may exist a break from the lifestyle of retirement.
The 34-year-old Fury, who said April’s win over Dillian Whyte would be his last fight in his career, is in talks for a possible confrontation with Oleksandr Usyk in a heavyweight unification bout.
An update was provided by the British superstar on social media on Wednesday, saying he is giving all parties involved until 1st September to “come up with the money” or he is staying retired.
In the game of fighting the term ‘retirement’ is very insecure. Often the boxers say they are walking away only to come back, sporadically going through that cycle multiple times, as has been the case for the other most dominant fighter of the era, Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Provided the amount of interest in the potential heavyweight title bout and what will likely be a gainful promise with certainty purse for both the fighters, it is quite possible the sides will come to some type of agreement prior to the deadline of Fury.
It is not unclear whether the Netflix series would be put on pause or should he return to boxing or if it would shift the focus on his preparations for the prestigious clash with Usyk.
