One of the biggest crossover fights of this generation is just hours away- as the combat sports fans get ready to witness Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou sharing the squared circle.
Fury, the reigning WBC heavyweight champion of the world and Ngannou, former UFC heavyweight champion who’s currently part of the PFL roster, are all set to lock horns in a 10-round boxing match this Saturday, 28th of October at the Boulevard Hall in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Dubbed as “Battle of the Baddest”, the fight will mark Ngannou’s debut into boxing while also have Fury returning to action from his 10th round TKO win over Derek Chisora back in December last year.
Fury vs. Ngannou was originally slated to be an exhibition match but was later changed to an official fight, even though Fury’s WBC belt will not be at stake. While the fight is happening in the area where Fury has been dominating and is also the heavy favourite to win, Ngannou has had the one and only Mike Tyson preparing him for the fight, who will also be present in his corner. The former UFC champ, despite being the underdog, arguably has the biggest puncher’s chance.
“At this present moment in my time in life, I’m only interested in Ngannou,” said Fury during the fight week. “If I get a massive cut 27 inches across the eyebrow and I get an injured right hand and two broken ribs in victory, then that’s what I’ll do. I’m not too concerned about Usyk at all. All my focus and energy is going into fighting Francis and I’ve given it an unbelievable preparation.”
“It’s something so important and interesting to have one of the greatest — if he’s not the greatest heavyweight of all time — being part of it and being in your corner and believing in you,” Ngannou said. “Just that one thing itself is everything. Then you have to talk about his technique, his fundamentals, his footwork and his skills. Everything you can learn from him.”
