ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) icon Tommy Dreamer has reacted to The Undertaker’s comments on today’s pro wrestling being softer than those of before.
THE UNDERTAKER’S COMMENTS ATTRACTED HEADLINES
The Undertaker’s comments, said on the Joe Rogan Podcast, made headlines as he commented that the industry had softened and he did not enjoy watching pro-wrestling. He said that he was not being an bitter old man and that he did his thing and went away when he wanted to walk away.
“I just think the product is a little soft. There’s guys here and there that have an edge to them but there’s too much pretty and not enough substance I think right now,” he added.
The Undertaker believed that the softening happened because guys like Taker, The Rock, Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels grew old together and were busy in rivalries amongst themselves, and therefore they could not work with the young guys long enough to provide them with substantial information and training on the ins and outs of the business. There was not enough merging of young and old talents at that point.
However, he said that Triple H was trying to get some of the toothpaste back in the tube, take a step back to move forward to try and get the product more edge through the mediums of NXT and Performance Center.
TOMMY DREAMER MENTIONED THAT WRESTLING IS SUBJECTIVE
On a media call, current Impact Wrestling wrestler Tommy Dreamer says that pro wrestling was subjective. There are times when he fails to enjoy pro wrestling, be it in WWE, AEW or Impact Wrestling. However, people are all different. Dreamer notes that he and D’Lo Brown can watch the same match and have different reactions from it.
DREAMER REFUSES TO BELIEVE THAT PRO WRESTLING HAS TURNED SOFT
“To say it’s soft, listen, I watch wrestling everyday. I watch too much wrestling. I watch wrestling from the 70s, it’s on Amazon Prime called IWA. And I’m watching these guys that were main eventers and I’m saying to myself, a lot of these guys couldn’t get jobs today,” Dreamer added.
