NASCAR is gearing up for the launch of its ninth race of the Cup Series at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. Recently, the official NASCAR page shared a video of Michael McDowell and his horrific crash that occurred back in 2008.

The video showcased Michael McDowell taking a lap in his #00 car, suddenly losing grip and colliding hard into the wall with a significant impact on his front bumper. His car spun into the air and was completely destroyed. However, Michael McDowell walked out safely from the car, and the crowd cheered loudly, surprised and relieved by the driver’s survival.

  1. The Incident: As he entered Turn 1, McDowell’s right front sway bar broke, causing him to lose control of his car. The vehicle slammed into the SAFER barrier at an astonishing speed of approximately 185 miles per hour. The impact was nearly head-on, resulting in a sudden deceleration from 185 mph to zero mph in just one foot. The car then flipped and rolled several times before finally coming to a halt.
  2. The Aftermath: The crash left McDowell’s No. 00 Toyota Camry completely destroyed. Fortunately, he survived the harrowing incident, but it was a stark reminder of the risks faced by professional race car drivers on the track.
