Stephen Curry wants to face Sabrina Ionescu and take back the “Sharpshooter” record to his name
Stephen Curry, known for his sharpshooting skills, currently holds the NBA 3-point contest record for the highest-scoring round. However, Sabrina Ionescu, a standout player for the New York Liberty in the WNBA, made headlines by breaking Curry’s record in the WNBA 3-point contest last year.
While Curry remains the record holder for the NBA 3-point contest with 31 points in the first round in 2021 and a two-time champion (2015 and 2021), Ionescu’s remarkable feat of scoring 37 points in the final round of the WNBA contest last year surpassed all 3-point contest records. Ionescu missed just 2 shots in her iconic performance as she went on to lift the 3-point contest trophy.

Podziemski, who shares the same agent with Ionescu, revealed the potential feasibility of making the challenge happen. Encouraged by this, Stephen Curry exclaimed, “It’ll be lit.” signaling his eagerness to take on the WNBA star in a unique 3-point contest showdown.
Despite being in different leagues, Stephen Curry expressed his interest in attempting to beat Ionescu’s record, setting the stage for a potential head-to-head competition in a separate event. As the participants for this year’s 3-point contest are yet to be announced, fans are hopeful to see Curry’s name in the mix, as Curry aims to take the record back to his name.
The prospect of witnessing two shooting legends go head-to-head in a one-of-a-kind 3-point contest has captured the imagination of basketball enthusiasts, adding an extra layer of anticipation to the upcoming All-Star Weekend.
