Sky Brown: Great Britain’s shining star wins bronze in the women’s skateboarding event

The final women’s skateboarding event was held in Tokyo, Japan where the 13-year-old skateboarder, Sky Brown, cemented herself as the youngest and the brightest skateboarder in this generation.Sky Brown: Great Britain's shining star wins bronze in the women's skateboarding  event

Sky Brown wins Bronze Medal 

In her maiden appearance at the Olympics, the teen placed third to win bronze. She scored a total of 56.47. Japan had a double victory at the skateboarding event as Kokona Hiraki won silver and Sakura Yosozumi clinched gold.

After the event, she super-excited teen said everything feels unreal.

“All the girls are ripping it, it was insane. It was a super sick final.”

Great Britain’s pride, Brown was born in Miyazaki, Japan, but she decided to represent her dad’s country at the Olympics. The youngster has competed in several skateboarding tournaments across the globe.

A year ago the teen had suffered a terrible injury while training for an upcoming event. Her fall could have been fatal and but luckily she survived several skull fractures and broken bones.

The teen’s father worried about her condition and whether she could continue her career in skateboarding. Fast forward to 2021, Brown has an Olympic medal to her name.

World number 3, Brown had missed out on the Olympic Qualifiers that took place earlier this year. But she earned her Olympics quota due to her ranking. She had a few ups and downs in the preliminary rounds but she showed what she was made of in the third and second heat where she secured first place. All total eight riders had qualified for the finals. 

Tony Hawk, the greatest American skateboarder, was all praises for the young athlete. He was confident that she is someone to watch out for, as she is easily one of the best female skateboarders in the world.

The teen now resides in California with her family and apart from skateboarding, Brown also enjoys surfing.
