Ryan Garcia stated that he has already seen the contract and everything is ready for his fight against Gervonta Davis on April 15th.
According to a report by Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, Golden Boy Promotions is waiting for PBC and Showtime Boxing to send the contract to sign it. While Stephen Espinoza, president of Showtime Boxing, said that everything is on track to make that matchup.
Negotiations took several months between the teams of both boxers. Since Davis is with PBC and his fights are on Showtime, and Ryan is represented by Golden Boy and his fights are on DAZN, they had to agree to all the broadcast terms.
“At this point, as far as I know, it is,” Garcia told Ariel Helwani regarding the fight with Davis on The MMA Hour. “Yes, 100%. I’ve seen the contract, everything’s been settled and I think they’re working on the preliminary card. Other than that, we both agreed to fight, so I’m ready. I’m dying for this fight and I’m doing everything I can to make it happen.”
“I was definitely worried,” Garcia commented on said of ‘Tank’s recent clash with Hector Luis Garcia. “I was worried because I had to go through different obstacles to try to make the fight happen for the fans. A lot of talking, obviously it’s been through the years and finally being at that point where the broadcasters agree to do something.”
Davis defeated Héctor Luis García by knockout in the ninth round. The Dominican already had several left shots that hurt his right eye and he could no longer see.
“Now what we have to do is find the right date and then he said he needed the warm-up fight, which is a risky thing,” Garcia added. “Because it’s not the fact that he loses, it’s the fact that he hurts his hand. Things that happen when you prepare for a fight and for me it is very risky. He wanted to do his thing, he had a great performance and hopefully nothing happens between now and April.”
