Richard Childress Racing struggling for better results in 2024

Last year was the first year for Kyle Busch into Richard Childress Racing and it felt like Kyle had a decent year in his very first year with the team with three wins early half of the season. However, Kyle Busch lacked momentum in the late half of the season and is still not able to find his momentum back. He has some close finishes but Richard Childress lacks wins.

The same scenario continues with Richard Childress’s grandsons as his struggle for years continues. RCR announced a change in the crew chief for Austin Dillion to see some improvements from the driver and #3 tea. Unfortunately, a 34th-place finish further added worries for Richard Childress and his team. Kyle Busch is currently 13th in playoff standings while Austin Dillion is outside 30th.

“We made an improvement this weekend from how we ran last year at Martinsville Speedway … [and] the guys kept working and never gave up,” Busch said. “We made the car better by the end of the race and we were able to get a decent finish, but we still have work to do to get to where we want to be.”

Challenges for Kyle Busch and Richard Childress in 2024

  1. Slow Start: After the first five races, Kyle Busch secured only one top-10 finish, leaving some fans concerned. Initially, it seemed like a minor hiccup, but as the season progressed, his slow start became a more significant issue.
  2. Disappointing Performances: Recent races at short tracks have been particularly disappointing for Busch. He finished 20th at Richmond on Easter Sunday and followed it up with a lackluster 16th-place run at Martinsville Speedway. The No. 8 team has struggled with mid-pack speed, a far cry from their solid performance in 2023 when Busch secured three wins in the first 15 races.
  3. Behind the Scenes: Fans wonder if something is going on behind the scenes at Richard Childress Racing. Is it a technical issue, a setup problem, or just a slump? Regardless, Busch needs to find a solution to regain his competitive edge.
