During the NASCAR Cup Series 2024 at Texas Motor Speedway, a dramatic incident unfolded on pit road. A fire suddenly erupted near Ty Gibbs’ pit stall as cars navigated around the track. The blaze was reminiscent of a gas spill from a car that had previously been in the pit during the first stage of the race, occurring less than 40 laps into the event. FOX NASCAR shared a video of the incident on X. The video featured how Ty Gibbs had to take an extra lap and the delay in his pit stop due to the fire.

The fire led to a substantial delay, forcing Gibbs to remain on the track until the flames were extinguished. This alteration in strategy impacted when he could make his pit stop. The pit crews worked diligently to put out the fire, but the damage had already been done. Instead of pitting when he intended, Gibbs had to run an extra couple of laps.
Talladega Superspeedway Incident
In another incident, Ty Gibbs inadvertently dragged a gas can onto a pit road at Talladega Superspeedway. The result? A fire burning in the middle of the track created an unusual and tense moment during a Cup Series playoff race.

Kansas Speedway Mishap
During a pit stop for William Byron’s No. 24 car at Kansas Speedway, sparks from the lug nut gun ignited the fuel, leaving a fire in the pit lane. To make matters worse, the tire changer for the No. 24 also caught fire! Quick action by the crew prevented further escalation.
