In the illustrious history of the NBA, sibling pairs have left their mark. But none shine as brightly as the Gasol brothers—Pau Gasol and Marc Gasol. These Spanish giants have etched their names in basketball lore, not only as individual stars but also as a formidable duo. As the first brothers to have their jerseys retired by NBA teams, their legacy transcends mere statistics.
In a recent interview, Clowney responded to a question about his age with a statement captured in a tweet by Erik Slater:
“@erikslater_ Noah Clowney when asked if he ever thought about being just 19-years-old during his last two performances: ‘No. We’re all on the court, we’re all at this level for a reason. So I feel like I don’t really look at nobody as better than me. I mean, obviously players that have done more, proven more, who are better than me, actually, but I’m not gonna go in there with the mindset of that. So I feel like we’re all equals out there when I’m out there.'”

Pau Gasol: The Renaissance Man
Pau Gasol’s journey began in 2001 when he entered the NBA draft as the No. 3 pick. His arrival in Memphis injected life into a struggling Grizzlies franchise. As a rookie, he averaged 17 points and nine rebounds per game, earning the 2002 Rookie of the Year award. Pau’s versatility as a skilled big man caught the league’s attention. But it was his move to the Los Angeles Lakers that transformed him into a global icon.
In the purple and gold, Pau became Kobe Bryant’s trusted sidekick. Their chemistry fueled back-to-back championships in 2009 and 2010. Pau’s finesse, basketball IQ, and unselfish play perfectly complemented Bryant’s scoring prowess. Six All-Star selections, four All-NBA nods, and two titles solidified Pau’s place in NBA history.
Marc Gasol followed his brother’s footsteps, joining the Memphis Grizzlies in 2008. His rugged style of play embodied the “grit and grind” era. Alongside Zach Randolph and Tony Allen, Marc formed the heart of a tenacious Grizzlies team. His defensive prowess earned him the 2013 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award. Marc’s impact extended beyond stats; he personified resilience and leadership.
