We are just a day away from one of the most anticipated fights of this year, when the unified heavyweight champion of the world Oleksandr Usyk locks horns with mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois this Saturday, 26th August at the Stadion Wroclaw in Wroclaw, Poland.
After the negotiations regarding the undisputed clash against Tyson Fury fell apart, Usyk walked away from the fight, making Dubois, the WBA (Regular) champion the first in line to be the mandatory challenger to the Ukrainian’s WBA (Super), as well as the WBO, IBF and IBO belts.
The undefeated Usyk has gone 2-0 against Anthony Joshua in his last two fights, winning the four titles from the Briton via unanimous decision in September 2021 and then defending them once again in the rematch in August last year, which ended in a split decision for the Ukrainian.
“DDD” is on a four-fight win streak and in his last outing, the Brit marked his first title defence, securing a third round TKO victory over Kevin Lerena on 3rd December last year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London. Dubois has recovered from the knee surgery he underwent to treat the ACL injury he sustained during the bout.
