The Oklahoma City Thunders demolished the Portland Trail Blazers 139-77. The 62-point win margin is the highest in Oklahoma City Thunder’s history. It has been just a couple of years since the Oklahoma City Thunders were massacred 152-79 by the Memphis Grizzlies, this was a win with the highest margin in the tournament’s history. Oklahoma City Thunders tried to break that record against the  Portland Trail Blazers but this time being the winning side.

Oklahoma City Thunder’s rampage on the trail Blazers earned them the fifth position on the list of the NBA’s largest margin of victory. Memphis Grizzlies’ 73-point winning margin over Oklahoma City Thunder on 2nd December 2021 is at the top of the list. Cleveland Cavaliers pulled off a 148-80 win over the Miami Heat way back in 1991 with a 68-point winning margin, occupying the second spot. Indiana Pacers with 65 points-win margin over the Portland Trail Blazers in 1998 and Los Angeles Lakers with 63 points-win margin over Golden State Warriors in 1972, hold the third and fourth positions respectively.

Thunder’s win against the Trail Blazers was a complete team performance but some players outshone the others. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander produced a memorable performance with 31 points,4 assists, and 5 rebounds. Jalen Williams with 21 points, 4 assists, and 7 rebounds, and Chet Holmgren with 19 points,3 assists, and 4 rebounds were crucial.

Thunder’s brutal game style against the Trail Blazers has even left the Trail Blazers coach devastated “It was almost like a perfect storm, to be honest with you,” Portland coach Chauncey Billups said. “Nothing really worked for us.” Thunders had that killer instinct intact from the word go.

“we cleared a couple  hurdles tonight” Thunders coach opens up after their big margin win

Thunders had a perfect night and Oklahoma City Thunders coach Mark Daigneault claims his team cleared not one but two hurdles against the Trail Blazers “I thought we cleared a couple hurdles tonight,” Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said. “I thought the first one was the start of the game, how ready we were to play and the energy we were able to generate, obviously, with a tough schedule, which is a step forward. It’s mind over matter. And then the other hurdle was playing with a lead. … I thought we played pretty well with a lead, both ends of the floor.”

The job still hasn’t been finished, Oklahoma City Thunder will look to keep their focus intact and enter the following fixtures with the same destructive gameplay.
