Marc Marquez reveals the cause of the COTA crash

During the race, Marquez engaged in a thrilling ten-lap battle, even losing a sidepod after early contact with Jack Miller. His daring attempt to snatch the lead resulted in a dramatic lunge and contact with Jorge Martin. Whether Marquez could have held off the charging Maverick Vinales, who fought his way from eleventh to victory, remains uncertain.

Nevertheless, Marquez acknowledged that the speed was on his side, even after recovering from challenging situations. As the dominant GP23 rider until his accident, Marquez now sits eighth in the world championship standings, trailing Jorge Martin by 44 points.

Marquez candidly shared his experience: “We need to take the positives. We were fighting for that top group, trying to lead the race. Unfortunately, the feeling today was not the best.” He revealed that a front brake issue plagued him, forcing him to repeatedly pump the brake lever while entering corners. Ultimately, this issue caught him off guard, leading to the fateful crash. “Basically, that’s why I increased the speed and lost the front,” Marquez explained.
