The legendary Manny Pacquiao wants to return to boxing because he feels that he still moves like when he was 20 or 30 years of age, and while he’s fine with exhibition bouts, the former eight division world champion wants a shot at boxing gold again.
I have that dream to return to boxing: Manny Pacquiao
During a series of interviews regarding his expected return to boxing in July, “PacMan” commented that he is in excellent shape and has faith in his abilities and in his physical condition.
“I still move well, like I’m 20 or 30 years old,” Manny Pacquiao said while attending an event by Alaxan in Pasig. “I missed boxing, I’m fine with the exhibitions. But, for me, I want to be world champion again. I have that dream to return to boxing. Right now, I’m focused on training so I don’t lose speed or power.”
Following a highly decorated career in boxing, Pacquiao retired with 62 victories, 39 of which were by knockout, eight defeats and two draws. He was last seen in a professional setting on his loss against Yordenis Ugás, on 21st August 2021.
Pacquiao remarked that even at 44 years of age, his physicality level is superlative, added with the experience of having spent more than 25 years in the professional boxing circuit. Although he knows what the next step may be, he is still jnvolved in talks about his upcoming fight.
“For someone my age, I’m very good, and I still move like when I was young. This is a grace from God, an amazing grace. We are still negotiating for my lap so I don’t want to get ahead of myself. I am happy, whatever my future. I leave it to God. If there is an opportunity, better,” he added.
