The upcoming highly anticipated exhibition boxing match between boxing legend Manny Pacquiao and Muay Thai superstar Buakaw Banchamek, is set to go down on 20th April in Bangkok.

The fight will mark the third exhibition boxing match of “PacMan”, the former eight division world champion who retired from professional boxing after losing to Yordenis Ugás back in 2021. Pacquiao so far has a 2-0 record in exhibition boxing and last year in December, defeated DK Yoo via a 6-round unanimous decision at the KINTEX arena in Goyang, South Korea.

The “White Lotus” Buakaw, a multi-promotion Muay Thai world champion, will be making his debut in the squared circle. Aside from his prowess in Muay Thai, Buakaw has also fought in exhibition kickboxing, bare knuckle Muay Thai and Bare knuckle boxing.

The bout, originally announced back in July at a press conference in Bangkok, was previously scheduled to take place in January. However, the latest announcement has pushed the date back to April 20th, while the venue still remains at the Thai capital.

“We are honoured to have Manny ‘PacMan’ Pacquiao and Buakaw Banchamek for this historic event,” Fresh Air Festival CEO Vinij Lertratanachai had stated back in July. “It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity you won’t want to miss.” [H/T Boxingscene.com]

The match will be at a 155 lbs catchweight, featuring six three minute rounds with two minutes of break and will see the 45-year-old Pacquiao taking on Buakaw, who turned 41 in May and is coming off a unanimous decision win over Nayanesh Ayman of Spain at the Legend of Rajadamnern: The Revenge event on 2nd December in Bangkok.

Manny Pacquiao or Buakaw Banchamek, who has the edge?

One of the greatest boxers of all time, there is no question on the valour that Pacquiao has held in the sport of sweet science. An astounding eight division world champion, who has clinched golds from Flyweight, all the way to light middleweight, is expected to be at an advantage over Buakaw, who will be debuting as a boxer.
