Kimmel Racing, led by team owner Bill Kimmel, faced an unfortunate setback. Both of their cars—Will Kimmel’s #68 Ford and Scott Melton’s #69 Toyota—encountered a mishap simultaneously. During transport, one of the cars came loose within the trailer, resulting in damage to critical components such as bumpers, rear quarters, and crush panels. The severity of the damage left the team with no choice but to withdraw from the Tide 150.
Denny Hamlin vs. Kyle Larson: The Dramatic Showdown of 2023 at Kansas Speedway
With just one lap remaining, Hamlin closed in on Larson’s Chevrolet. The adrenaline surged as Hamlin’s Toyota made slight contact with Larson’s car. Larson’s already loose race car became even more unsettled. As they hurtled toward the checkered flag, Hamlin executed a daring move. His right front bumper nudged Larson, sending him into the outside wall. Hamlin streaked past, claiming victory in dramatic fashion.
Larson, undoubtedly disappointed, missed out on a chance to win. The incident echoed a similar battle earlier in the season at Pocono, where Hamlin’s aggressive racing style had also impacted Larson. However, Larson acknowledged that the Kansas incident was more of a racing deal than intentional foul play.
