Lance Stroll’s struggles during the 2023 season were evident. While his teammate Fernando Alonso consistently delivered strong performances, Stroll found it challenging to match that level. However, Stroll attributed much of his performance gap to the alignment between himself and the car.
In the last few weeks, he has been spectacular in his performance and he boldly said, “People say he [Alonso] is super good, and I beat him the last few weekends. “So take it as you want.”
Lance Stroll Faces Criticism as Father’s Patience Wears Thin
Team principal Mike Krack has expressed satisfaction with both drivers, but no official commitments have been made regarding Stroll. His performance has notably lagged behind Alonso’s this season, fueling speculation that his father, Lawrence Stroll (who also happens to be the team owner), may consider replacing him. Yuki Tsunoda, affiliated with Honda, looms as a potential replacement for 2025 and beyond.
Francois-David Rouleau, a correspondent for Le Journal de Montreal, has been openly critical of Stroll. He notes that Stroll “does absolutely nothing to attract the sympathy of his many detractors.” The reality, as Rouleau puts it, is that without his father’s backing, Stroll wouldn’t be behind the wheel of an F1 car.
When asked roughlythe ongoing rumors, Lance Stroll acknowledges the speculation: “Seems to be a pretty popular question that I’ve been getting asked recently. Yeah, that’s where my head’s at, for sure.” Despite the uncertainty, Stroll remains focused on the Canadian Grand Prix, aiming for a strong result on home soil.
