Lamar Jackson posts great numbers, Tyler Huntley not so much

Lamar Jackson put in a top performance. He finished the game with 18 completed passes out of 21 attempted passes, covered 321 yards, averaging 15.3 yards per attempt and completed 5 takedowns. He obtained a perfect passer score of 158.3, thus matching in with the legendary Tom Brady with 3 perfect passer score games.

Tyler Huntley didn’t start the game but was heavily impactful as soon as he came on. He completed his only attempted pass, covering a distance of 19 yards, completed a takedown, and obtained a rating of 158.3 too.

This is the first time since 1940 that a quarterback pair has recorded perfect passer ratings in the same game. Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley became the first pair since Sammy Baugh and Frank Filchock to achieve this feat.

Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley hit perfect passer scores

Officially, the perfect passer record won’t stand for Huntley because of the rules. To have a perfect passer rating, a quarterback is required to have at least 10 attempted passes, zero interceptions, a minimum completion percentage of 77.5%, a minimum of 11.875% of their passes score touchdowns, and a minimum of 12.5 yards per attempt, in a particular game. While Lamar Jackson completed the required criteria for his 3rd perfect passer rating, Tyler Huntley failed to meet the requirements.

Fans however have been critical. They took to social media to criticize the lack of contribution of Tyler Huntley in the astonishing feat. A fan compared them to the pairing of Kobe Bryant and Kwame Brown who, as a pair, posted 63 points in a game, in which Kobe scored 62 points and Kwame a single point.

Another fan found it laughable that the pair combined for a total of 19 completed passes out of 22, 340 yards and 6 takedowns.

Ravens face the Pittsburgh Steelers on 6th January in the season finale and would look to end it on a roll. Coach John Harbaugh, however, is unsure whether he will play Lamar Jackson in the finale.
