At Kokomo Speedway, two prominent drivers, Kyle Larson and Cale Thomas, found themselves in a heart-stopping crash. The incident occurred during a heat race as part of the Kubota High Limit Racing series.
As the race unfolded, Larson and Thomas battled for position, both vying for the final transfer spot. With just five laps remaining, Larson attempted a daring move, trying to slide across Thomas coming off Turn 2. Unfortunately, he failed to clear Thomas, resulting in a collision. The impact sent Larson’s No. 57 sprint car into a barrel roll down the back straightaway. The crowd held its breath as the cars tumbled, metal against dirt, before finally coming to a stop.

After the dust settled, Kyle Larson emerged from his overturned car, visibly frustrated. His post-race interview revealed his raw emotions: “I s**k,” he admitted, acknowledging the mistake that led to the crash. Larson, known for his aggressive driving style, had pushed the limits, but this time it didn’t pay off.
Kyle Larson’s Heartfelt Tribute to Bryan Clauson
Kyle Larson, the talented NASCAR and Sprint car driver, recently shared a poignant moment on social media. He posted a photo of Kokomo Speedway, a dirt track in Indiana, and reflected on its significance in his racing journey.
.@kokomospeedway is always a special place as it reminds me of my friend and fellow race-car driver, Bryan Clauson. He saved lives by being an organ donor and started the @driven2save movement. You can be a legend and save lives like Bryan, too.

For Larson, Kokomo Speedway holds a special place in his heart because it reminds him of the late Bryan Clauson. Clauson, a fellow racer and close friend, tragically lost his life in a racing accident in 2016. Clauson was not only an accomplished driver but also a beloved figure in the racing community.
Larson’s post serves as a tribute to Clauson’s legacy. It’s a reminder of the camaraderie, passion, and shared experiences that bind racers together. Kokomo Speedway, with its tight turns and gritty surface, evokes memories of intense battles on the track—moments Larson and Clauson both cherished.
Throwback: Kyle Larson’s Dramatic Win and Celebratory Flip
In 2013, at Gas City, Larson’s celebratory car ride turned into an unexpected flip. His sprint car landed on its right side, but remarkably, Larson emerged unscathed. Despite the mishap, he managed to celebrate his victory, serving as a humorous reminder of JJ Yeley’s similar mishap back in 2002.
During the Eldora Million race at Eldora Speedway, Larson found himself in a multi-car wreck triggered by Aaron Reutzel. His #57 sprint car tumbled upside down, leaving spectators in awe. Fortunately, all drivers involved climbed out of their cars without assistance
In 2024, during the Eldora race, another winner joined the list of celebratory mishaps. Justin Grant, who had secured four wins that season, flipped his car upside down during his post-race celebration. Kyle Larson humorously remarked, “I’ve only waited 2 years to hand over the crown for the biggest celebration fail. Thank you, Justin Grant!”.
