In a historic photo finish, Larson secured a victory by a mere 0.001 seconds, etching his name in the annals of racing history. However, the night before this triumph, Larson endured a hard-fought race with High Limit Racing, where he lost a lead and ultimately the race to Brad Sweet in a $50,000 event. Reflecting on the outcome, Larson candidly expressed, “I hate finishing second to Brad,” revealing the competitive fire that drives him even in the face of setbacks.
Kyle Larson Clinches Thrilling Victory by 0.001 Seconds at Kansas Speedway
In a heart-stopping finish that will be etched in NASCAR history, Kyle Larson secured an electrifying victory at Kansas Speedway. The No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet driver edged out Chris Buescher’s No. 17 RFK Racing Ford by a mere 0.001 seconds at the start/finish line. This remarkable feat marks the closest finish ever recorded in the NASCAR Cup Series.
A caution flag flew when Kyle Busch spun in the closing laps, setting the stage for a green-white-checkered finish. Most cars opted for a two-tire strategy during the pit stops. Chris Buescher found himself in the lead as the white flag waved. He fought valiantly to hold off Larson’s charge. Kyle Larson, determined to avenge last year’s last-lap defeat in the same race, took the high line. With sheer determination, he closed the gap on Buescher.
“That race from start to finish was amazing,” Larson exclaimed. “You guys got your money’s worth today, and I’m just proud to be a part of the show.”
