One of the biggest women’s boxing events of this generation is all set to get underway this weekend as Katie Taylor (22-0, 6KOs) and Chantelle Cameron (17-0, 8KOs) will be locking horns this Saturday, 20th May at the 3Arena in Dublin.
Taylor, the undefeated Irishwoman will be having her first professional bout in her homeland. The reigning undisputed lightweight champion, Taylor will be facing another undefeated boxer in Cameron, the reigning undisputed at light welterweight, for the latter’s four belts, with a chance of becoming undisputed at two weight divisions.
“I do love proving people wrong as well – I love when some people are betting against me,” said Taylor. “It was the same in the Amanda Serrano fight. A lot of people had her as the favourite in that fight and I love the fact that I came through and proved those people wrong and I have a chance to do that again on fight night.”
“I’ve got no pressure on me, whereas Katie has got all the pressure on her, they are all there to see her… It’s all about Katie’s homecoming and I’m going to shock a lot of people by ruining that homecoming,” Cameron stated.
