Joey Logano recently shed light on an issue affecting racing at the Texas Motor Speedway. During the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400, Logano discussed a potential fix to enhance the racetrack’s performance. He pointed out that the resin PJ1, which was applied to the track surface years ago, still remains. This resin makes the outside racing line extremely slick, preventing drivers from utilizing it effectively.
Talking with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Joey said, ” And I don’t know if it collects dust on top of it, but it’s sticky. You can feel it, it’s still sticky. And I think when you’re not on it under caution, those type of things, the sticky catches all the dust off the car. The break dust, rubber dust, just garbage in the air. And the first few laps you go up there, it’s complete ice. So, it prevents cars from going up there sooner. Somebody’s gotta be the person that’s brave enough to clean it off. Or enough cars have to make mistakes and clean it off before it gets really fast.”
🗯️ "I wish there was a way to take that stuff off […] I don't know how to do that, but I think the racing would be better."

“I wish there was a way to take that stuff off. I don’t know how to do that. But I think the racing would be better if you didn’t have that crap up there. It’s hard for me to say the racing is bad there, like it was pretty decent on a few occasions, I just think if we can get up there sooner, it would be better,” Joey Logano concluded.
Joey Logano Concerned Over Ford’s Winless Drought in 2024
In 2023, Ford delivered a historic performance across all three NASCAR series. Ryan Blaney, Cole Custer, and Ben Rhodes secured championships, marking Ford’s second consecutive Cup victory. The manufacturer seemed unstoppable, leaving fans and competitors in awe.
Fast forward to 2024, and the narrative has shifted. Ford’s form has taken an unexpected turn. After eight race weekends, the blue oval brand is yet to secure a win. Close calls have occurred, like Sam Mayer’s victory in the Xfinity Series race in Texas, where he edged out veteran Ryan Seig by a mere 0.002 seconds—the second-closest margin of victory in Xfinity history.
Joey Logano, a long-time Ford driver, knows the team inside out. In a recent interview with Frontstretch, he expressed his worries about Ford’s performance: “I’d say we are all concerned. There are definitely some weaknesses that we’ve identified. The urgency has escalated in the last couple of weeks, which is good.”
Joey Logano’s familiarity with Ford’s strengths and weaknesses makes his perspective valuable. He appreciates the collective nervousness within the team, believing it will drive them to address issues more aggressively. Logano’s loyalty to Ford spans over a decade, and he hopes for positive changes soon.
