Carlos Sainz, the talented Spanish driver, has had quite the rollercoaster ride in the 2024 Formula 1 season. A surgery, a win, end of the contract with Ferrari in 2024. While 2023 Ferrari’s F1 team was worth $3.9 billion as per Forbes, a departure from the team looms for the Spanish driver after 2024.

Carlos Sainz’s contract extension with Ferrari ensures that he will be part of the team until the end of 2024. But what next?

When asked about the potential impact of his victory on securing a seat for the 2025 season, Sainz humorously remarked that since he’s still without a job for next year, the win could certainly help his cause. His lighthearted response reflects the uncertainty and competitive nature of Formula 1, where drivers often face challenges in securing contracts for upcoming seasons. Nonetheless, Sainz’s performance on the track serves as a strong testament to his skills and could indeed bolster his prospects of securing a seat with a team for the future.

As per Formula1.com Sainz said “Well you know, I’m still jobless for next year, so I guess this does good for me! Now you say, ‘Okay, I’m ready to fight this year’, [but then there was the] appendix, another low, and then suddenly you come back with uncertainty – am I going to be back or not? Then you come back and win. Life is sometimes really nice, really beautiful.”

“I’m going to maximize this more solid team that we’ve created together during this year to try to put together some more podiums and wins, and see where I’m going next,” Sainz concluded.

2024 Season so far for Carlos Sainz at Ferrari

  1. Podium in Bahrain: Despite the uncertainty about his future at Ferrari, Sainz kicked off the season with a podium finish at the Bahrain Grand Prix. It was a promising start, showcasing Ferrari’s potential even in the face of Red Bull’s dominance.
  2. Appendicitis Setback: Unfortunately, Sainz had to miss the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix due to an unexpected health issue—appendicitis. Surgery was necessary, and it temporarily halted his campaign.
  3. Australian Grand Prix Triumph: Just two weeks later, Sainz bounced back spectacularly. He secured a brilliant victory at the Australian Grand Prix, standing atop the podium. The win was particularly sweet given the challenges he had faced earlier in the season.
