The upcoming boxing match between American pro boxer Hasim Rahman Jr and former UFC champion Vitor Belfort from 15th October has been pushed back to DAZN event on 19th November in Texas
Hasim Rahman Jr vs. Vitor Belfort will headline MF & DAZN: X SERIES 003 event in Austin, Texas
Rahman Jr and Belfort were slated to appear in one half of the double headliner boxing event MF & DAZN: X SERIES 002 on the 15th of October in London. However, the fight has now been moved to headline the MF & DAZN: X SERIES 003 event, heading to Moody Center in Austin, Texas on 19th November.
A professional boxer out of Baltimore, Maryland, and the son of former two-time heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman, Rahman Jr gained the limelight after replacing Tommy Fury to face Jake Paul, but the fight talks later fell apart.
“I’m really looking forward to fighting Mr. Belfort,” said Rahman Jr on the fight announcement, “I’m extremely grateful to Misfits Boxing for giving me the opportunity and I look to make the most of it. I’m 100% focused on making a lasting impression on all the fans in England and those watching at home. Now the world gets to see why Fake Paul and his sister want absolutely nothing to do with getting in a ring with me!”
A former UFC 12 Heavyweight Tournament as well as UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Belfort made his exhibition boxing debut in September last year against Evander Holyfield in Hollywood and won via 1st round TKO. The Rahman Jr will be the Brazilian’s second professional fight, 16 years after his pro debut against Josemario Neves in 2006.
“I’m excited to showcase my skills on October 15 in Sheffield, live on DAZN! I have been waiting for a fight for a while, and now is my time. I’m always in the gym staying ready. Rahman is a perfect opponent for me, so expect fireworks in the return of the Phenom,” Belfort stated earlier.
“It is great to be able to announce the third show in our MF & DAZN: X Series, and our first in the U.S.,” Joseph Markowski, CEO DAZN North America commented, “We are super excited about these shows; their reach and their potential to excite and entice a growing new generation of fight fans. Stay tuned for more shows and more big names to be announced soon”. [H/T BoxingScene.com]
