Middleweight boxing icon Gennadiy Golovkin has been off the circuit for quite some time now. His last fight was against Canelo Alvarez on 17th September 2022. Gennadiy lost the bout in a close decision and vacated all his world titles after the bout. That was the last time he was present in the boxing circuit.

His absence for over 15 months has led the boxing community to think about whether the boxing icon has silently retired or not. Gennadiy turns 42 next April and he has turned down many astounding big-money offers since his absence from individual fighters as per @RealRickGlaser1.

Gennadiy Golovkin enjoying his retired life back home?

In his recent sports drink venture in Kazhakstan, Gennadiy Golovkin featured in an ad, promoting his drink. His physical appearance had urged the fans to comment on his physique and retirement plans.

Lightweight boxing champion Devin Haney defended Gennadiy’s physical appearance as he commented “This is crazy that it’s even a thing.. the champ is retired! Let him live his life if he wants to get big as a house what’s the problem? He has been dedicated to the sport of boxing his whole life. GGG has paid his dues let him live now

Some fans agreed with Haney’s assumption while others believe he is bulking up and putting up a lot of muscle ahead of his return. Going up the weight division at 42 might be a risky decision but Gennadiy has a reputation for sparring with heavyweights and having punch power equivalent to them, so it might be a possibility.

Gennadiy hasn’t spoken publicly about his retirement plans. It will be a surprise to the boxing community if he returns or retires, but everyone is waiting for a comment from the legendary Gennadiy Golovkin.
