Alycia Baumgardner and Claressa Shields—two whom noone thought would ever have a grudge rivalry, have found themselves at the opposites, and their recent fiery conversation on X is signalling a heated future rivalry.
Alycia Baumgardner & Claressa Shields: the friends-turned-foes
It all started with Shields’ statement regarding Baumgardner failing her dope test from a sample taken on 12th July, three days before her victory over Christina Linardatou. Traces of mesterolone and methenolone acetate metabolites were found in the undisputed female super featherweight champion’s sample, although “The Bomb” has denied using those drugs.
As Baumgardner is in the process of advocating for her super featherweight titles, Shields took to Twitter last week to taunt Baumgardner for wanting to have a go at “GWOAT” amidst the doping controversies.
And now, Baumgardner openly made a post on X earlier on Friday, with some choicest words for Shields.
“Shields is the most cap as bih I ever saw bro. Like it don’t make no sense,” she wrote.

Shields was quick to notice, and made her response: “She’s triggered 😂 again 🗣️ like bro go punch a bag & pray you get off the suspended list. This bishhh capped out 🧢 talking like she really like that 🗣️ it’s so funny 🤣”
The two division undisputed champ followed up with another post, addressing Baumgardner as “goofy”.
“I’ve never hated on a boxer in my life 🗣️ I just don’t mess with a lot of fighters cause they weird!!!! I thought this goofy was different, but she been a hater from jump. So mad that I got the opportunity to fight at LCA & her network had her at the Masonic temple… its levels to this shit. You gotta earn it!” Shields added.
