Frank Warren aiming to reschedule Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury fight in early 2022

Celebrity boxing took to a new level of anticipation with the announcement of Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury- two undefeated celebrity boxing stars of present-day were ready to exchange blows on 18th December, but unfortunately, Fury pulled out of the fight due to illness and while Jake went on to face Tyron Woodley, the Paul vs Fury card headed for uncertainty. However, boxing promoter Frank Warren has shed some hope on making the bout a reality once again and aims to reschedule the fight in 2022.

Frank Warren says for Jake Paul, a “fit Tommy Fury” will be a “different proposition” to Tyron Woodley

With Woodley stepping in for Fury, the bout turned into a rematch for the two, who first squared off against one another on 28th July, with Paul picking up a split decision victory and this time, knocked out the former UFC welterweight champion in the 6th round at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

While Paul vs Woodley was filled with enough grudge to make it a PPV success, “The Problem Child” also had enough beef built up against Tommy, the Long Island star and younger brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, and seeing the two in the ring is an event that many boxing fans will look forward to.

On the same notion, Queensberry Promotions owner Frank Warren, who also promotes Tommy Fury, says he will be attempting to rearrange Paul vs Fury quite promptly next year.

“We will be looking to reschedule in early 2022,” Warren said in an interview with Sky Sports, “Jake said that Tommy Fury was ‘lucky’ he wasn’t in there but really Tommy was extremely unlucky to miss out with his injury.”

Fury, who pulled out of the fight due to a bacterial chest infection as well as a broken rib,  is currently 7-0 as a pro boxer and while Woodley appeared to be a tougher contest than the Briton, Paul still managed to defeat the former UFC champion a second time.

Nonetheless, Warren believes that “TNT” will bring a different game to Paul than Woodley had done.

“A fit Tommy Fury is a very different proposition to Tyron Woodley,” the 69-year-old added.
