The Belgian side saw their 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign coming to a premature end in the group stages after they failed to find the back of the net in the goalless draw against Croatia in their Group F clash this Thursday at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium.
In the first half that went mostly uneventful, the Croatians were on the verge of breaking the deadlock after being awarded a penalty, which was later dismissed after a VAR check.
Romelu Lukaku coming on field was expected to give Belgium some much needed boost up front, but the 2nd ranked side couldn’t manage much in creating enough chances.
There were a string of chances created for Lukaku towards the end of the match, but the forward was unlucky in finding the back of the Croatian net. With a single point out of the match, Belgium saw themselves out of the tournament even before the knockout stages, while the Croats are through.
