An early lead into the match, as well as their maiden World Cup goal, ultimately fell short for Canada as they were sent into elimination by an overpowering Croatian side who won their Group F clash 4 goals to 1 this Sunday at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha.
The talented Alphonso Davies scored the opening goal just two minutes into the match, making good use of Tajon Buchanan’s assist.
Croatia didn’t waste too much time in trailing, as Andrej Kramaric provided the equalizer, the first of his brace tonight, at the 36 minutes. A brilliant through from Ivan Perisic found Kramaric near the Canadian goal, who struck it past Milan Borjan.
Just before half time, Marko Livaja put the Crotes in front with a brilliant shot from distance, after receiving the assists from Juranovic. Kramaric scored his second goal in the 70th minute.
Lovro Majer scored the fourth for Croatia in the injury time, adding the final blow to Canada, who end their first World Cup campaign in 36 years in the group stage.
