Donald Trump’s attendance at the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR race
Former U.S. President Donald Trump made headlines when he attended the Coca-Cola 600, one of the crown jewels of NASCAR racing.
The Coca-Cola 600 is an annual event in the NASCAR Cup Series, held during Memorial Day weekend. The race took place at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.
On Sunday, May 26, 2024, Donald Trump arrived at the Coca-Cola 600. He was a guest of NASCAR team owner Richard Childress. Trump watched the race from atop Austin Dillon’s pit box.
This marked the second time Trump attended a NASCAR race; the first was in February 2020 when he served as the grand marshal for the Daytona 500. Trump’s presence at the Charlotte Motor Speedway was significant. He became the first sitting or former President to attend a race at this venue.
In 1994, former President Bill Clinton visited the speedway but did not attend a race. Trump’s attendance was unprecedented. Fans and potential voters cheered for Trump as he made his way toward Dillon’s pit box. The crowd chanted “USA” several times, showing their admiration for the former President.
