A rollercoaster of events during COTA

At the start of the final stage, Ross Chastain managed to snatch the lead from Byron by overshooting Turn 1. However, Byron wasn’t one to back down. He relentlessly chased down Chastain and reclaimed the lead at Turn 1 with 25 laps remaining.

But the drama didn’t end there. During a final round of green flag pit stops Byron lost the lead once more. Chastain then got hung up in traffic on the re-entry and fell several cars behind.

Undeterred, he cycled back out front, demonstrating his determination and skill. Ultimately, Byron secured a convincing victory, winning by 0.692 seconds over Christopher Bell—his second win of 2024 and a testament to his resilience on the road course.
