Memphis Grizzlies suffered another major injury blow as Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane injured his left ankle after stepping on LA Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard’s foot.

Desmond Bane initially tried to shrug off the injury and continue with the game but the pain and discomfort were too much for him and he finally had to exit the game in the third quarter. The Grizzlies announced between the third and fourth quarters that Desmond Bane wouldn’t be available for the rest of the match. Only 5 minutes were left in the third quarter when Bane went on a drive to the hoop and injured his left ankle in the process.

Leonard was called for a foul on the play, but Banes’s injuries didn’t allow him to shoot the subsequent free throws and he was unable to continue with the rest of the game. GG Jackson took the foul shots instead of Bane and sank 1 of 2.

Desmond Bane was on a dream run as before the Clippers game he was averaging a career-high  24.7 points and 5.4 assists per game in 37 games he played for the Grizzlies this season. Bane scored 15 points on 3-of-11 shooting to go along with three assists in 23 minutes of action he was involved in against the Clippers.

Memphis Grizzlies are already missing out on many of their key players and another big name adding to that list is quite concerning for the Grizzlies.

When will Desmond Bane return?

Ja Morant is out for the season with a shoulder injury and Marcus Smart is suffering from a finger injury. Marcus Smart is expected to miss at least six games as he has a ruptured tendon in his hand. The Grizzlies are having a nightmare season as they sit at 13th in the Western Conference with 5 wins and 5 losses in the last 10 games.

Memphis Grizzlies fans are getting frustrated with their Injury-prone team and their awful performances, especially on their home turf. Desmond Bane’s injury has become salt on the wounds of the Grizzlies fans. Fans are left wondering when will their star guard return to the pitch. Though there is no official announcement on how long Desmond Bane will be out, a sprained ankle normally takes up to four or six weeks to heal but Grizzlies will not be looking to rush Desmond Bane as they can’t risk another long-term injury.
