Fans are enthralled after Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell guided the side to a historic victory on Sunday night. They secured their first NFL playoff win in over 32 years after beating the Los Angeles Rams.
Lions’ long-awaited comeback to prominence was the biggest headline for Sunday night’s game as their last playoff win was in January of 1992. Their last playoff win before that was in 1957. Lions fans hadn’t made it to a playoff game at home since the 1993 season.
Even Rap superstar and Lions fan Eminem filmed a segment for NBC that played before the game, talking about what this game and season meant. Lions legends, such as Calvin Johnson and Sanders, were also on the sideline.
Goff performed brilliantly in the first half and completed a couple of clutch plays in the final minutes and the defense stood tall in the second half. Thus, Lions won its first playoff game since Barry Sanders starred for the team 32 seasons ago. Detroit emerged victorious in a thrilling 24-23 contest.
It would have been disappointing if the Detroit Lions lost their playoff game at home. However, they managed to secure a victory and have a chance of going far in the playoffs. Thanks to the Dallas Cowboys’ loss on the same day, the Lions will now host another game in the divisional round next weekend against either the Philadelphia Eagles or Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It’s certainly an exciting opportunity for the Lions to break their record of only two playoff wins in 66 years, and potentially earn two more wins in just one week.
