Corey Heim has stepped in to replace Erik Jones after the unfortunate incident that resulted in a significant injury. With Jones expected to take at least three to four weeks to recover, Heim is making the most of his opportunity to learn about the Cup car and showcase his talent. Serving as a reserve driver for Legacy MC and 23XI Racing, Heim is determined to make the best of the opportunity and prove himself worthy of the position.
As per Motorsports.com, Hieim said, “I’ve got the time this weekend to sort of figure it out. I don’t know if I will feel that I’ve got it figured out by the end of the weekend, but any advice is super important. I’ve been reaching out to as many people as I possibly can to try to gather all of the information and try to have a decent idea. With these 20-minute practices, it is pretty brutal to wrap your head around a completely different kind of race car within that time frame, but my job is just to do the best I can for this 43 group and move forward from there.”
Tyler Reddick and Corey Heim’s Dramatic Moment at Pit Road
During the race, Truck Series standout Corey Heim was filling in for the injured Erik Jones in the No. 43 Camry for Legacy Motor Club, making his Cup Series debut. Heim found himself in a tight situation on pit road when he had contact with fellow Toyota driver Tyler Reddick. Reddick, driving the No. 45, blocked Heim as they both entered their respective pit stalls.
Dover’s narrow pit road has always been a challenge for drivers. The tight confines make it difficult to maneuver, especially during high-pressure moments like pit stops. In this case, the close quarters led to the incident between Reddick and Heim. The clash added drama to an already intense race.
