Fans are excited to see Canelo Alvarez on the silver screen with Creed 3, but the boxer himself has asked everyone to not expect much from his role in the upcoming Michael B. Jordan starrer next year.

The undisputed super middleweight champion will make his Hollywood debut in the upcoming boxing movie Creed 3, which is part of the celebrated Rocky franchise, but became a franchise itself after creating an entire trilogy already underway.

Canelo’s role in the movie was revealed in the trailer after he was seen with Adonis Creed’s family at a red carpet-event. In September, it was announced that the Mexican boxer had been cast as himself in the film with an unspecified role.

Many fans are anticipating that when Canelo arrives in the movie, his role will be impactful. However, the Mexican himself recently revealed that his role may not be as big as fans expected.

During a product launch for his new drink, VMC, Canelo answered questions from various journalists and media outlets, as well as revealed that he would return to the squared circle in May.  Additionally, he stated that although Jordan, making his directorial debut with the movie, invited him for a role, it was a small one.

“I feel really good. I’m thinking of coming back in May, but I don’t know. I made my debut in Hollywood, Michael B. Jordan invited me to be in Creed. It’s a small game, don’t expect much,” said Canelo.

Canelo Alvarez plans Dmitry Bivol rematch after May

While it looks like fans may not be getting too much action from Canelo in Creed 3, the 168-pound world champion is expected to be in action in May, despite no official opponent being announced.

During the product launch, Canelo also revealed that he would be very interested in facing the man who beat him in May this year, Dmitry Bivol. He said that although he plans to return in May, he would like to have the rematch against Bivol afterward.

“The idea is to come back in May with a tune-up fight to see how I feel and then get the rematch against Bivol in September. It’s the only thing I want for my career right now,” he added.

Canelo had a mixed year in 2022. He had only had two fights this year, losing to Bivol in the first and then winning to Gennady Golovkin in their trilogy in September. However, he may have to face Caleb Plant or David Benavidez as they are set to contest for the number one contender spot.
