During the unveiling of his statue in Juanacatlán, Jalisco, Canelo was enquired about his next outing in the ring, to which he likened the idea of facing the Briton in the English capital.
“It would be interesting a fight with him in London, right? ”, said Canelo at the press conference. “Because he is from there, he would be very big. But the truth is that right now I have not spoken nor have I begun to negotiate to see who. I am focused on the rehabilitation of my hand and see how I feel in January. See what the doctor tells me.”
Eddie Hearn, who is president of Matchroom Boxing, also said it’s a fight he envisions for Canelo before any progress is made toward the highly anticipated rematch against WBA’s 175-pound champ Dmitry Bivol.
“The doctor, before coming to Mexico, checked my hand, he told me that everything was fine, that I can start hitting,” Canelo added about the injury to his left hand and that he recently underwent surgery. “So we’ll see, we’ll see if he’s Ryder, if he’s someone else, the truth is that I don’t care.”

“I feel very proud to be here, with everyone who made this possible, to have put up a statue in my honor,” Canelo commented on the unveiling of his statue. “For me, it is a source of pride and further proof that dreams come true.”
During this year, Canelo has made two fights in which he lost to Bivol in May and then returned to 168 to beat Gennadiy Golovkin in their trilogy in September.
