Booker T reveals why Sting should not compete in the ring
With Sting joining AEW, many fans have been speculating about the Icon to step foot in the ring for a potential bout. But, considering his age of 61, Booker T has now advised him not to take part in the in-ring competition.
The former World Heavyweight Champion himself being at the age of 55 has admitted that wrestling is for the young blood and that was the reason he stepped down from the sport.
Booker T said, “For Sting to want to have a match, I wouldn’t advise it. Okay? At 61 years old. I wouldn’t advise it. Is it worth it? I don’t know. I mean to him, it might be worth it. But I say wrestling is a young man’s sport, that’s why I got out.“
The WWE Hall of Famer said he had thought about retirement at the age of 40 but pushed until the next five years. It was during this time he decided to hang up the boots.
He said: I said I was going to retire when I was 40 and when I turned 40 I was like, ‘I’m still pretty good, man. I’m still better than the rest of these suckas on the roster’. So I pushed it until I was 45 and then I walked away from it. And I tell you, I don’t ever itch to put my boots back on to go out there and do that ever again.”
Sting to make a in-ring return?
Sting fought his last match against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions. Suffering an career-ending neck injury during the match compelled him to retire.
Following his arrival at AEW, he has reportedly expressed his desire of having cinematic matches. it is evident that cinematic matches are safer as it doesn’t involve taking bumps.
He is currently involved in a feud with Team Taz and is apparently backed up by Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin. It is to be seen how this stroyline progresses going into the new year.
