Multi-time WWE Women’s Champion Becky Lynch recently shared her experience of dealing with post-weaning depression. It was in 2020 that she decided to take some time off from WWE because of her pregnancy. In a recent interview, the former RAW Women’s Champion shared her experience dealing depression.
At WrestleMania 36, Lynch successfully defended her RAW Women’s Title against Shayna Baszler. Since then, Lynch avoided physical confrontations with any WWE Superstar, cutting promos to advance her storyline at the time.
In the next few months, Asuka won the Money in the Bank briefcase. She surprised the fans and even Asuka when she presented her the RAW Women’s Championship that was inside the briefcase. On the same episode of RAW, Lynch announced her pregnancy to the world.
Now, Lynch is back wrestling after giving birth to a daughter. Becky Lynch gave birth to a baby girl in December 2020. Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins decided to name the daughter Roux Lopez. The couple got married in June 2021.
Becky Lynch talks about her experience
The six-time Women’s champion spoke with Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick on the latest episode of WWE’s After the Bell podcast. ‘The Man’ discussed her battle with post-weaning depression.
“It kind of got really, really dark for a few months and I was in a really bad spot,” Lynch said via People.
“It was kind of one of those things where you’re trying to pull yourself out of it, because you know mentally, ‘God, I’ve got a great life. I’ve got a great husband. I’ve got a great baby, and I’m doing this thing at the highest level that I love.’ But no reasoning with yourself was able to overcome that level of depression,” she says.
She wasn’t aware of post-weaning depression until she experienced it firsthand. Lynch says another mother in WWE recognized what she was going through and pulled her aside to help.
“Thankfully, somebody that we all know — I won’t put her on the spot — she told me what was happening because it had happened to her”
