Former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has thumbed up to the 60/40 purse split offer from WBC heavyweight Tyson Fury regarding their proposed ‘Battle Of Britain’ super fight later this year, Eddie Hearn has confirmed.

Anthony Joshua deserves more than 40, but he’s happy: Eddie Hearn

With the undisputed title clash against Oleksandr Usyk out of the picture for now, Tyson Fury has turned his gaze back at Joshua, and has offered him a shot at his coveted WBC belt.

The first proposal about an All-British Showdown was made by ‘The Gypsy King’ himself in a recent video on his Instagram, to which AJ responded that he would be ready in December.

On responding to Joshua, Fury took to social media once again on Tuesday and said in another clip that he is offering a 60/40 split for the fight, along with a “Take it or leave it” ultimatum for his fellow Briton.

“I’m being bombarded,” said Fury in the video, “with messages about how much am I going to pay AJ…I’ve offered him 60/40. Forty percent of this amazing fight because I want this fight to happen. He doesn’t have any excuses now not to take it. He can’t say I’ve low balled him and offered him 20 percent, 30 percent. I’ve offered the people 40 percent. Take it or leave it. Let us know. Boom.”

As it turns out, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that the boxer have accepted Fury’s proposition, even though he believes he deserved more than the 40% cut being offered to him.

“We went back this morning. I spoke to AJ about the offer, we think, I think he deserves more than 40, but he’s happy,” Hearn revealed to iFL TV, “I went back this morning and said we accept 60-40. We want that reversed in the rematch because rightfully so, you’re the champion here you want the big split which I think is fair and we want to do the fight in December.”

Hearn also said that the 17th of December- the night before the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final was being targeted for the super fight.

“Interestingly, Queensberry have that date, December 17. I think that was the date he was meant to fight Dereck Chisora,” Hearn added. [H/T Standard.co.uk]
