British boxer and former world champion Amir Khan, along with his wife Faryal Makhdoom, underwent a horrific incident on the evening of Monday as the couple was robbed at gunpoint in East London and the perpetrators had taken Khan’s watch.

The main thing is we’re both safe: Amir Khan narrates the robbery

Soon after the incident took place, Khan detailed the robbery on Twitter, revealing that there were two men who approached him after crossing a street in Leyton, while his wife was a few steps back. One of them had put a gun to Khan’s face and had asked for his watch and left the couple unharmed.

“Just had my watch taken off me at gun point in East London, Leyton. I crossed the road with Faryal, luckily she was few steps behind me. Two men ran to me, he asked for my watch whist having a gun pointed in my face. The main thing is we’re both safe,” tweeted Khan.

Khan, who is a former unified light welterweight world champion, was seen in action back in February when he suffered a 6th round TKO defeat against Kell Brook on 19th February at the Manchester Arena.

While appreciating the former IBF welterweight champion and former unified middleweight title contender Brook’s dominating performance, Khan also revealed that he was contemplating hanging up his sparring gloves.

40 fights, it’s a lot of fights, winning two world titles. I need to sit down with my family, but it is towards the end of my career here,” the 35-year-old had told Sky Sports Boxing after the fight,“Obviously, the love for the sport is not there anymore like it was before. When I was in the ring, I used to have that excitement and that push. I just didn’t have it in me. I felt quite flat. I think that’s a sign for me that I should be calling it a day maybe, but let’s see. I’m going to go back and watch the video. Kell obviously came trained, and he looked really, really good today, and he was ready.” [H/T BoxingNews24.com]
