Boxing fans have been left with an utter dismay as the much awaited comeback fight of Amanda Serrano has now fallen apart.

The Puerto Rican, who is the reigning unified WBA, WBO and IBF featherweight world champion, was set for a homecoming bout against Nina Meinke this Saturday night at the Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Unfortunately, the bout has now been called off at the last moment by the ring announcer, due to Serrano’s unforeseen eye injury that has rendered her unable to compete in the squared circle tonight.

Nakisa Bidarian, the co-founder of Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions has claimed that after Serrano did her hair on Thursday, a chemical had went into her eye while she went for a run the next day, while Jake added that the chemical had burnt her cornea and hand.

According to an official statement from MVP, Serrano was deemed medically unfit to compete by the Puerto Rican Boxing Commission.

Amanda Serrano apologizes to her fans for the last minute withdrawal

A heartbroken Serrano was seen opening up about her pulling out of the Meinke fight, as she apologized to the fans, all while hinting retirement but at the same moment, promising that she would comeback and walk out of boxing right in her homeland.

“One thing I’ll tell you, I will be back, and I’ll retire. This is where I’ll retire. Here in my Island, I’ll come back and I’ll retire… I put everything on the line for you guys. I just want you guys to be proud of me. I’m so sorry from the bottom of my heart,” said Serrano.

Jake Paul, who secured a first round knockout win over Ryan Bourland on the undercard of the same event, promised to bring the fight back as soon as possible.

“I know she is a warrior. She’ll push through this, heal the eye, and then we are going to come back as soon as we can and re-run it because Nina wants that and Amanda wants that. Like I said, this happened 36 hours ago. We did everything we could to keep the fight on, but it wasn’t being approved by the commissions as well,” said Jake.
