Anthony Edwards did not hold back after knocking the Los Angeles Lakers out of the playoffs on Wednesday night.
Edwards shot poorly and only went 5/19, including 0-for-11 on three-pointers, in Game 5 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Calif. But it didn’t matter as his Minnesota Timberwolves won the game 103-96 over the Lakers to clinch their Western Conference first-round playoff series.
After knocking out the Lakers, Edwards was eager to rub in the predictions made by members of the media over how the series would go.
“You know what makes it feel even better is that they said Lakers in 5, and the Wolves won in 5. I think that makes it feel 10 times better,” Edwards said after the game.
Edwards was calling out Shannon Sharpe, who was the leader of the “Lakers in 5” movement.
Sharpe, who is now on vacation from ESPN, was not the only one who believed the Lakers would win the series. Nearly every one of his ESPN coworkers picked the Lakers to win the series.
The Lakers were the higher seeded team at No. 3 in the West, but the Timberwolves took care of business and are moving on to the second round.
