Within a matter of hours, the WBO welterweight champion of the world Terence Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) will be putting his title up for defense against David Avanesyan (29-3-1, 17 KOs).

The fight comes as a proxy to the highly awaited undisputed clash between Crawford and the reigning, unified WBC, WBA (Super) and IBF welterweight titleholder Errol Spence Jr, which has been on the cards for quite some time and despite a privisional date in November this year, fell apart once again, with Avanesyan getting the entry to lock horns against ‘Bud’.

Having been the WBO 147-pound champ since 2018, Crawford has made five title defenses and in his last outing in the ring, he marked a 10th round TKO victory over Shawn Porter in November last year at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Paradise, Nevada.

Avanesyan, an Armenian-Russian pugilist who has held the European welterweight title since 2019, is currently on a six fight win streak. A former WBA (Regular) welterweight champion, ‘Ava’s last victory came in March this year, in a first round knockout of Finland’s Oskari Metz at The SSE Arena in Wembley, London.
