Amidst the worrying times in Ukraine, which is under an ongoing invasion from Russia, the country has seen support from its boxing superstars who have spoken up against the invasion, as well as deciding to take up Arms. Vasyl Lomachenko, the three division world champion who has joined the country’s defense battalion and will now have firearms on his hands, replacing the gloves.

Earlier, former heavyweight boxing champion brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko had announced their partake in taking up arms against Russia. Wladimir, the former unified world heavyweight champ, had already enlisted into the military and Vitali, the Mayor of Kiev, also decided to take up arms to defend his nation.
Soon after, Ukraine saw vocal support from Oleksandr Usyk, the reigning WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titleholder who called for the people of Ukraine to unify, as well as appealed to the Russian President Vladimir Putin to put an end to the war and to sit down for negotiations.
Now, its Vasyl Lomachenko, one of the top pound for pound boxers in the world at the moment and the former unified lightweight, WBO featherweight and WBO junior lightweight champion who has taken a stance against Russia.
On Sunday, Lomachenko shared a photo on his Facebook page, donning military fatigues as well as carrying an assault rifle with him, informing that he has joined the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky Territorial Defense Battalion in Ukraine.
