Tyson Fury will have his brother Tommy finally lock horns against grudge rival Jake Paul next month, but in the wake of all the verbal fumes, The WBC heavyweight champ’s latest words shed appraisal on the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury- A fight that has been in the making for quite some time but never fully materialized, will now take place on 26th February at the Diriyah Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Paul and Fury came face to face during the show that Artur Beterbiev and Anthony Yarde headlined at Wembley Arena on Saturday, January 28. During the exchange, Paul and Tommy called each other names, shoved, and the YouTuber threatened to embarrass him.
“I’m sorry for your family, but you’re going to make a fool of the last name,” Paul noted .
“That day you will be mine and you will see what it is to face a real fighter,” Fury replied . “You can’t run away this time.”
While the exchange took place, Tyson Fury was focused by the cameras and only laughed at each other’s statements. Although Paul and Fury do not have much experience in professional boxing, “The Gypsy King” thinks that his brother should take the fight very seriously and not underestimate the YouTuber.
“I think he’s a decent boxer,” Fury said in an interview with Sky Sports News. “A lot of people think he’s just a YouTube person who doesn’t know how to box but I’ve actually seen him training and I’ve actually seen his fights and I think he’s decent. He’s like a novice professional. He’s only had six fights so he’s exactly as good as he should be at this stage. He’s not an Olympic boxer but then again neither am I.”
Coming to his brother, Fury insists that Tommy shouldn’t take the February 26 clash lightly.
“He can’t just go to the ice cream parlour and not train. He’s got to really focus and have the right sparring and everything,” Fury went on, “He’s got to take it really seriously. He’s got to do the job when he’s in there because it’s not just the opponent. If you take the opponent out of the equation. There’s big pressure, a big stadium, top of the bill and all that sort of stuff.”
Tyson Fury predicts Tommy will KO Jake Paul within 6 rounds
The Fury fight will be Jake Paul’s first fight against someone who grew up in boxing. In case he wins, “The Problem Child” will now enter the WBC rankings. After two failed attempts to make the clash, the third will be the final one and both will star in the stellar function in Saudi Arabia.
“I think Tommy knocks him out inside six rounds,” Fury concluded, “Tommy hits and hurts me and I’m 20 stone and six foot nine and the heavyweight champion of the world.”
