Gang violence has taken another life in the English capital as a teenage boxer was stabbed to death in New Cross, southeast London in broad daylight on Wednesday, and the Met Police have identified the victim as Teon Campbell-Pitter, a 16 year old boxer who hails from Lewisham. A formal identification, as well as post-mortem, is due to take place.

According to eyewitnesses, a gang was seen going about in the park before the murder took place and the perpetrators were seen escaping in all directions. The cops were called on the spot following a brawl outside the Moonshot Centre in Angus Street, New Cross after 4 pm. The paramedics and air ambulance had rushed to the aid of Teon, but the teenager had already lost his life on the spot due to the stab injuries.
Double Jab Boxing Club, located at the Moonshot Centre where Teon was a junior member, expressed their sorrow on the unfortunate incident via an official statement, as well as upholding their fight against knife crimes.
“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we have to announce the passing of one of our junior members who was fatally stabbed this evening outside of our gym. A 16-year-old boy with his whole life ahead of him taken too soon by knife crime. It is these devastating moments which highlight how urgent our fight against knife crime is,” the statement from the club read.
“As a club we work tirelessly to give young people an alternative, but we need our entire community to recognise the duty we share in creating change. This simply cannot keep happening to young people. Our hearts are with the family of the young man, who are now facing the loss of their beloved son. We are devastated,” The club added.
